Veterans Choice Program
Crozer Health, Delaware County’s leading health provider, is a participant in the Veterans Choice Program (VCP), which gives military veterans greater choice in medical care should they be faced with longer than expected appointment scheduling wait times at a Veterans Administration (VA) Medical Center.
The VCP is part of the Veterans Access, Choice and Accountability Act of 2014 (VACAA) that offers assistance for a veteran who is unable to receive a clinical appointment with a VA facility within 30 days, or if there is an excessive travel burden, such as living more than 40 miles from a VA facility.
All Crozer Health acute care hospitals (Crozer-Chester Medical Center in Upland, Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill, Springfield Hospital and Taylor Hospital in Ridley Park) and major outpatient centers (Crozer Brinton Lake in Glen Mills, Crozer Health at Broomall) are participating with the VCP. Our goal is to offer our veterans timely and convenient access to quality care throughout Delaware County.
Veterans are still required to communicate with their military treatment facility and/or VA facility for initial care. Should they be informed of a scheduling delay beyond the 30 days, veterans may request a referral to Crozer Health or they can contact the Choice Program hotline at (866) 606-8198 to determine whether they are eligible and to obtain an appointment. All Crozer Health locations will require this referral.
