Crozer Health Medical Group Implements New Enterprise Practice Management and Billing System
On May 1, the physician practices of the Crozer Health Medical Group (CHMG) went live with Cerner Practice Management (CPM) and Cerner RevWorks® business office services (BOS) as a comprehensive practice operations solution. Cerner Corporation, established in 1979 and currently licensed at more than 25,000 facilities in over 35 countries, is a longtime leader in health information technology. The new CPM/BOS system was implemented across registration, scheduling and billing processes in approximately 85 CHMG offices.
The new system will improve the practices’ ability to efficiently manage patient data – such as benefits and insurance information; scheduling, insurance approvals and denials, and more. Real-time dashboards provide a snapshot of critical office data such as the day’s patient appointments and billing information and will help to automate daily processes.
“The new system will help us to provide a better patient experience, from when they call to schedule an appointment to when they receive their final bill,” says Patrick Gavin, CEO of Crozer Health . It will help achieve this goal by streamlining some of the processes that help drive patient satisfaction – such as appointment scheduling and billing, as well as those that prevent patient claim denials from insurance carriers – including demographic collection, pre-registration/pre-certification, and eligibility and insurance verification.
“Due to the importance of deploying this new technology to better serve our patients, we have worked very collaboratively with Cerner to ensure that the transition is as seamless as possible,” says Jay York, president of the Crozer Health Medical Group. “The project was placed on an incredibly aggressive timeline, requiring intense efforts by both the Crozer Health and Cerner teams. Their dedication to completing this solution so rapidly speaks to the commitment to provide outstanding patient care and ease of access. I am grateful for the collective efforts to complete this project so expeditiously.”
All practice team members, including physicians, have received extensive training on the new system. As is the case when upgrading to a new technology, there is a learning curve – and in the short term, some patients may experience delays. In addition, to keep information current, patients will be asked to present a photo ID and to verify their demographics and insurance information at office visits. The end result will be the most technologically advanced practice management system that makes it easy for staff to appoint and assist patients, and that realizes efficiencies along the entire patient experience.
The physicians and staff of the Crozer Health Medical Group are committed to the health and well-being of the communities they serve and are available to answer any questions.
