Crozer Health Residents, Physician and Administrator Published
Several Crozer Health providers were recently published in prestigious academic journals and texts.
Published in the August 2018 issue of Journal of Family Practice (JFP) was an article titled, “Cognitive Bias: Its Influence on Clinical Diagnosis,” by Thomas Yuen, M.D., Dominic Derenge, D.O., and Nicholas Kalman, D.O. Yuen is a family medicine attending physician. Derenge and Kalman are family-practice residents in the Crozer Health Family Medicine Residency Program. Their article received lead commentary by the journal’s editor-in-chief, John Hickner, M.D., M.Sc.
“This is a huge milestone for our family medicine residency program,” said William Warning, M.D., program director for the Crozer Health Family Medicine Residency Program. “This is our first article ever accepted to be published in this prestigious journal. It’s a great compliment to the work the team is doing in the area of cognitive bias.”
Published in the August 2018 issue of Podiatry Today was an article entitled, “A Closer Look At Extraskeletal Myxoid Chondrosarcoma Within The Lower Extremity” by Tasneem Masqati, D.P.M., and Rhonda Cornell, D.P.M., FACFAS.
Masqati is a third-year resident with the Crozer Health Podiatric Residency Program. Cornell is an attending physician with the Crozer Health Podiatric Residency Program. She is a Diplomate of the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgery. She is fellowship-trained in diabetic limb salvage and currently in private practice in Havertown, Pa.
“The case study that Drs. Masqati and Cornell present in the journal is rare, and so will be of great interest to the podiatric community,” said William M. Urbas, D.P.M., chief of podiatric surgery at Crozer Health. “Our department is proud of this achievement.”
Published in Contemporary Kidney Transplantation were two chapters, “Quality Measurement of a Contemporary Kidney Transplant Program” and “The Regulatory and Legal Environment of a Contemporary Kidney Transplant Program” by Maria McCall, who is senior administrative director at Crozer Health.
“Maria’s expertise in the field of transplant surgery administration made her a perfect contributor to this text,” said Aley Tohamy, M.D., Chair of Surgery at Crozer Health. “As regulatory requirements become more and more pervasive in every hospital department, having experts like Maria to guide us through them can help ensure a program’s success. We are fortunate to have her as a key member of the Crozer Health team.”
