Springfield Hospital Expanding Inpatient Beds and Improving Access to Care
Crozer Health’s Springfield Hospital in Springfield, Pa., is almost doubling its bed capacity to accommodate anticipated growth in inpatient admissions, intensive care and observations.
This growth is due in part to successful recruitment of additional primary care physicians to the system’s network of doctors. An example of this is the recent acquisition of Rose Tree Medical Associates, a 15-provider primary care practice with offices in Aston, Pa., and Media, Pa.
This expansion includes adding new services at Springfield Hospital, too, such as cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), electroencephalogram (EEG) and interventional radiology. Access to care will improve with this expansion as well, such as consolidating the most common services on the first floor.
“Our goal has been to improve every patient’s experience, and to focus on convenience and value,” said Gwen Smith, president of Springfield Hospital. “Adding patient beds and new services, and improving access to care, will help Springfield remain the destination of choice for surrounding communities.” Valet parking and a refurbished lobby are two of the value-added improvements in this upgrade, explained Smith.
Crozer Health is targeting the end of this summer to complete the expansions.
Elsewhere in the Crozer Health, Taylor Hospital, in Ridley Park, Pa., recently broke ground for a two-phased expansion of its emergency department, including patient care areas, waiting areas and ambulance entrances.
