Crozer Health CEO Peter Adamo Led Brookhaven Holiday Parade as Grand Marshal
With holiday music playing, sirens blaring from firetrucks, and police cars representing nearby communities, Crozer Health CEO Peter Adamo waved to the crowd from a convertible and led the 2021 Brookhaven, Pa., holiday parade as grand marshal.
Held Saturday, November 20, this year’s parade honored health care workers who have been true heroes during the COVID-19 pandemic. A team of Crozer Health volunteers built a creative float which they walked beside during the 2-mile parade route, where residents lined the streets and cheered. They were joined by high school marching bands and cheerleaders, holiday-themed characters, and even the Philadelphia Mummers Ferko String Band.
When addressing the crowd gathered at the end of the route, Adamo recognized Crozer Health’s nurse Megan George and Director of Emergency Preparedness Conlen Booth as heroes for the roles they played during the pandemic – George for caring for the first COVID patient in Pennsylvania, and Booth for his leadership and coordination to ensure the safety of all Crozer Health patients and colleagues. Adamo also honored all health care workers from Crozer Health and elsewhere for what they do every day.
“Crozer Health is connected to all of you,” he said. “We can’t do what we do without family, suppliers, and everyone here. God bless all of you, especially those who come in every day to take care of people who need us when they’re sick.”
Crozer Health was thrilled to be a part of the parade and the larger Brookhaven community, as they are less than 2 miles apart. Many employees live in the town and were among those lining the streets, excited to see the health system supporting their community.
This was the first year Crozer Health participated in the parade, and the health system is looking for this to be an annual event. The planning committee is already thinking of a theme for next year!
