Former Crozer Health Oncology Nurse Donates Painting to Hospital
A former Crozer Health nurse returned to the hospital last week with a very generous donation.
Carla Tudor Berd worked as an oncology nurse at Crozer-Chester Medical Center for 10 years beginning in 1994. A talented artist, she recently asked if she could donate one of her paintings to the hospital – she even knew exactly where she wanted it to be hung! The painting, 41” wide x 54” high, is a scene of nearby Ridley Creek State Park.
“It was those initial years as an oncology nurse that brings me to the why of my donation,” Tudor Berd explained. “The painting symbolized to me a path of healing and hope. One can rest within the painting, enjoy a visual walk through the autumn light and colors. Further down the path there is a tunnel in which to pass through, possibly signifying a place of transition.”
Tudor Berd was joined by Crozer Health CEO Tony Esposito, Chief Medical Officer Dina Capalongo, D.O., hospital Chief Operating Officer Jenny Breunig, and hospital Chief Nursing Officer Danny Shearn as the painting was hung near the hospital’s security screening area. They all expressed their appreciation for the beautiful painting which will be enjoyed by patients, visitors, and employees who pass by it daily.
