Crozer Health Graduate Nurse Program

Crozer Health offers a residency/support program for new graduate nurses – led by seasoned, experienced nurses – that help develop clinical reasoning and judgment and promotes professional development, for those entering specialty levels of practice. Graduate nurses will complete one week of clinical classroom orientation (required of all new hire nurses, regardless of experience level), after which they will be required to attend a full classroom day (eight hours) once a week for four weeks of graduate nurse class. This is in addition to any unit specialty training that may be required.

Upon completion of orientation, graduate nurses attend peer support sessions – a hybrid discussion/support/educational session that is scheduled for every other month for three to six sessions. Typical orientation for a new graduate nurse hired into Med-Surg or Telemetry is a 10- to 12-week orientation (36-40 hrs per week). Specialty units have extended orientations (ED or ICU – 16 weeks, etc.). New hires start out on day shift for approximately six weeks before moving to their hired shift. Graduate nurses will have a preceptor dedicated to them for orientation.

Crozer Health offers newly graduated nurses (BSN) a Fall 2022 Critical Care Nurse Residency Program (including: ICU, Burn Center and Neuro-Surgical ICU, Surgical Trauma and Emergency Department) within Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Delaware County Memorial Hospital, and Taylor Hospital. Candidates must be recent graduates from a BSN program with an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher. Graduate nurse hires will be required to work eight-hour shifts during their orientation period, and must obtain their Pennsylvania R.N. license in order to begin in the Nurse Residency Program.

Graduate nurses provide direct and indirect nursing care to patients within one of the nursing departments identified. These positions will be full-time - 36 hours per week,  12-hour rotating shifts. However, during orientation, residents will work 40 hours a week, primarily eight hours per day.
