Hip Resurfacing
Hip resurfacing surgery is an alternative to total hip replacement. Hip resurfacing involves a replacement of the joint’s articular surface only. Hip resurfacing is a type of hip replacement that replaces the arthritic surface of the joint but removes far less bone than the traditional total hip replacement. This results in faster recovery time.
Hip Replacement
Hip replacement is a surgical procedure in which a damaged hip joint is removed and replaced with an artificial joint. The most common reason for hip replacement is osteoarthritis. When you have a hip replacement, the surgeon removes damaged cartilage and bone from your hip joint and replaces them with new, man-made parts. This can relieve pain, help your hip joint work better, and improve walking and other movements. Your doctor may recommend hip replacement if you have hip damage and pain, and physical therapy, medicines and exercise don't help.
Knee Replacement
Knee replacement can relieve pain and allow you to be more active. The most common reason to have a knee joint replaced is to relieve severe arthritis pain. During a knee replacement, the surgeon removes damaged cartilage and bone from the surface of your knee joint and replaces them with a man-made surface of metal and plastic. In a partial knee replacement, the surgeon only replaces one part of your knee joint. A full recovery from knee replacement surgery takes anywhere from 3 months to a year.
Kyphoplasty
Kyphoplasty is an outpatient procedure used to treat painful compression fractures in the spine. In a compression fracture, all or part of a spine bone collapses.
A common cause of compression fractures of the spine is thinning of your bones or osteoporosis. Your doctor may recommend kyphoplasty if you have severe and disabling pain for 2 months or more that does not get better with bed rest, pain medicines, and physical therapy.
Laminectomy
Laminectomy is surgery to remove the lamina—part of the bone that makes up a vertebra, or bone spurs in your back. The procedure can take pressure off the spinal nerves or spinal canal. Laminectomy opens up the spinal canal so the spinal nerves have more room. Laminectomy is often done to treat spinal stenosis and involves removal of bones and damaged discs.
Arthroscopic Shoulder Surgery
Shoulder arthroscopy is surgery that uses a tiny camera called an arthroscope to examine or repair the tissues inside or around your shoulder joint. The most common reasons for shoulder surgery are a tear in the rotator cuff from overuse or injury, torn cartilage, dislocation, torn tendons, loose tissue, inflammation and bone spurs. Recovery can take anywhere from 1 to 6 months.
Arthroscopic surgery is most commonly used on shoulders and knees but can be performed on any joint.
