Upon graduation from the Widener-Crozer Allied Health Program, the student will receive a certificate of completion in radiologic technology from Crozer. Additionally, the student will receive 45 credits from Widener University, after completing the Pre-Requisite portion of the program, which renders 10 credits, the General Education portion of the program, which renders 3 credits for a humanities course, and the Program Core which renders 45 credits. In addition, the UCS 200 course renders 3 credits. Total credits earned should be between 61-63 credits, awarding the student an Associate of Science degree in Allied Health. Students are encouraged to walk at graduation at Widener University at the designated date to receive their degree.
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
Students will be eligible to take the credentialing examination administered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), or state licensing examinations.
The ARRT examination is administered continuously throughout the year at Pearson VUE Centers. Pearson Vue test centers provide computerized testing for many organizations. Schedule your ARRT examination appointment at http://www.arrt.org.
Students may take the exam as early as the day after graduation from the program. The ARRT examination for Radiologic Technology is a 230 question, multiple-choice examination, taken at a computer terminal, with completion of the examination limited to three and a half hours. Thirty of the test questions are pilot questions, which are not included in the final score.
The cost of the exam is $225.00. Beginning January 2015, all candidates must have earned an associates degree or (more advanced) degree from an accrediting agency recognized by the ARRT to be eligible to sit for the registry examination.
ARRT General Qualifications
Candidates must comply with the "Rules of Ethics". One issue addressed by the Rules of Ethics is conviction of a crime-which includes misdemeanor, gross misdemeanor or felony, the only exceptions being speeding and parking violations.
All alcohol and/or drug related violations must be reported to the ARRT. "Conviction" as used in this provision, includes a criminal proceeding where a finding or verdict of guilt is made or returned, but
- The adjudication of guilt is withheld, deferred or not entered; or the sentence is suspended or stayed; or a criminal proceeding where the individual enters a plea of guilty or no contest (nolo contendere) or there is a pre-trial diversion. All potential violations must be investigated by the ARRT in order to determine eligibility. Applicants for the ARRT exam must provide the ARRT with a written explanation, including court documentation of charges, with the application for the examination.
Individuals may request a pre-application review of the violation in order to obtain a ruling of the impact of their eligibility for the ARRT examination. Individuals may request and submit pre-application reviews at any time before or after admission to the Radiography Program.
