Current Residents

Ayushi was born and raised in Gujarat, India and moved to the US to attend undergraduate studies at Rutgers-New Brunswick, NJ and later medical school at Rowan-VirtuaSOM, NJ. OBGYN felt like home because it has a unique blend of building long-term patient relationships, managing acute inpatient challenges along with the fast-paced intensity of surgery.  and the fast-paced intensity of surgery. In her free time, she loves reading, crafting, having game nights with family and friends and spending time with her family dog, Wylie. 

Sara grew up in Chester County, PA. She completed her undergraduate degree in Biology with a certificate in Genomic Medicine at Temple University. She continued her education at the College of Science & Technology Post-Baccalaureate Program at Temple University. Sara loved being in Philadelphia so much that she continued to pursue her medical degree at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine. OB/GYN allows her to empower women through every stage of their lives and to provide compassionate care during their most intimate and vulnerable moments. When not thinking about medicine,she’s probably thinking about food :) she loves spending her time cooking with friends and gathering for a delicious meal together. She likes to spend my time outdoors, going on walks/runs, exploring new areas of the city, and traveling whenever she can. 

Emily grew up in Pennsauken, NJ, right over the bridge from Philly. She moved to Baltimore for undergrad at Loyola University Maryland where she majored in Chemistry. After graduating, she came back home to South Jersey and worked as a scribe for a couple of years in a women's primary care office where she fell in love with the patient population and women's health. Emily loves all things ob/gyn, but she is particularly passionate about family planning and maternal mental health. She attended medical school at Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine and is so excited that she gets to stay in the Philadelphia area for residency! In her free time, she loves hanging out with her family, especially her niece and nephew, being a cat mom to her tuxedo cat (Orion), tending to her plants, going to the beach, baking, finding a good happy hour or brewery, trying new restaurants, and of course, watching Philly sports teams! 

Katrina was born in Philadelphia but moved to Pittsburgh in elementary school and now considers herself a Yinzer. She attended the University of Pittsburgh for undergrad before pursuing a post-baccalaureate at the University of Pennsylvania. She stayed in Philadelphia for medical school at Drexel. She loves playing pickleball and showing off pictures of her son Levi. Fun fact: she’s a fraternal twin. 

Cassandra Hensel grew up in Georgia where she attended Mercer University for undergrad and studied Biology & Chemistry. While studying she worked as a Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault victim advocate and volunteered at a local clinic. This is where her love of gynecology began. She continued on to medical school at Mercer University in Savannah, Georgia. In her free time she enjoys spending time outside with her rescue dog, Sassy, and exploring Philadelphia.

Emilia grew up in Northeast Pennsylvania and spent 8 years in Scranton, PA (yes, like The Office). She played tennis in college at the University of Scranton and then went to Geisinger Commonwealth for medical school. Emilia knew OB/GYN was the specialty for her after her very first week on that rotation as a third-year med student. During her free time, Emilia loves to bake (and feed her coresidents all her treats), do Peloton workouts, and hang out with her cats, Penny and Hank. 

Saba Bakhtiari was born in Tehran, Iran but has moved around often and even spent some time living in Germany. She lived New York the longest than anywhere else but has been in Philadelphia for the last 7 years. She went to The City College of New York for undergrad where she majored in Biology and Studio Art. Then, she completed her M.S. and M.D. at Drexel University. In her free time, she loves to try new restaurants, spend time with loved ones (and her cat, Onyx), and experiment with new artistic endeavors.

Meaghan was born in Connecticut but was raised in Hatfield, PA. I pursued an Animal and Veterinary Science degree at Clemson University (Go tigers!) before obtaining my MD from Drexel University. In my spare time, I love going on hikes with my dog, Moose; baking, crocheting, reading, and going to the gym.

Alexandra grew up in Bucks County, PA. I went to Middlebury College, a small liberal arts college in rural Vermont. There, I played field hockey and studied Neuroscience and Gender Studies. After graduating, I moved to Philly and worked as a clinical research coordinator for a women’s behavioral health center at the University of Pennsylvania. Then, I returned to Vermont where I attended UVM Med School. In my free time, I love spending time with my 11 yo Lhasa Apso, Maxine, watching reality TV, and exploring Philadelphia!

Tyler grew up in New York, and stayed there for college at Hunter college and med school and Suny Downstate! She loves exploring new restaurants, playing with her hypoallergenic cat, Jack, and driving her brand new Subaru CrossTrek. 

Sidra was born and raised in Salisbury, Md. She pursued a biology major at Salisbury University. She left Maryland to attend Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where she fell in love with Philadelphia. On her off time from the hospital, she loves to go find new restaurants to try out. Sidra enjoys cooking, playing video games, hiking, and being a plant mom. 

Stephanie Osawaru was born in Nigeria and raised in Philadelphia from the age of 3. From childhood, she’s always known that she wanted to be an OB/GYN. As an undergraduate at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania, she did nursing as her pre-medicine degree, then went on to pursue her M.D. at St. George’s University School of Medicine. In her free time, she loves to sing, create new healthy recipes, and spend time with family and friends. As a proud Philadelphian, she also enjoys trying local restaurants and enjoying all that the city has to offer.
