Program Overview
Our program provides a robust clinical experience.
- Our PGY-1 year involves rotations in adult inpatient psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, consultation and liason psychiatry, neurology.
- Our PGY-2 year is a mix of adult inpatient psychiatry, geriatric psychiatry, consultation and liason, child psychiatry and addiction psychiatry.
- The PGY-3 year has months of consultation and liason psychiatry and outpatient community psychiatry.
- The PGY-4 year is divided between research and outpatient community psychiatry.
As we transition much of the department into a standalone behavioral health hospital, additional programming will be developed to provide an enriching educational experience.
The consultation and liaison clinical experience includes learning in the level 2 trauma center, emergency room, burn unit, general medical floor, intensive care unit, surgical intensive care unit, telemetry unit, obstetrics and gynecology, step down unit, neuro intensive care unit.
We hold the mental health court at our inpatient adult psychiatry building in partnership with the Office of Mental Health. Psychiatric involuntary and voluntary commitments are determined after a presentation of the facts of what brought them into the psychiatric hospital.
