Crozer Health offers many programs and activities designed to lower the risk of cancer and detect cancer at early stages.

Cancer Screenings

Early detection could save your life. We offer free screening events throughout the year at Crozer Health hospitals and outpatient centers, including colorectal, prostate, skin and breast cancer screenings.

Breast Cancer Screenings

Crozer Health offers state-of-the-art services for the timely detection of breast cancer, including 3D mammography, digital mammography, breast MRI, ultrasound-guided breast biopsy and stereotactic breast biopsy.

Colorectal Cancer Screenings

Colorectal cancer almost always starts with a small growth called a polyp. If the polyp is found early, doctors can remove it and stop colorectal cancer before it starts. A colonoscopy is a diagnostic procedure that allows the doctor to examine the entire length of the large intestine to detect these polyps and other potential problems.

Lung Cancer Screenings

Crozer Health offers a Lung Screening Program using low-dose CT scans. The program follows the high risk inclusion criteria as established by the National Lung Cancer Screening Trial.

Prostate Cancer Screenings

To detect and diagnose prostate cancer, Crozer Health specialists may use a range of tests that examine the prostate and blood. These tests include a digital rectal exam, a Prostate-Specific Antigen (PSA) blood test and transrectal ultrasound guide prostate biopsy. The American Cancer Society recommends that men who are over 50 years old are candidates for regular prostate screening (or as young as 40 years old if they are African American or have a family history of prostate cancer).

School Education Programs

School education programs bring information about risk factors, screening recommendations and self-examination to area high school students. Adult education programs are offered to a variety of audiences on cancer-related topics.

HealthyWoman Project

Crozer Health ’s HealthyWoman Project helps women aged 50-64 who lack insurance or are under-insured obtain free mammograms, breast exams, pelvic exams and pap tests at Crozer Health hospitals.

Dozens of Delaware County women are screened each year through this program, which is funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and administered in Pennsylvania by the Department of Health. For more information, call 610-284-8112.
